Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then found numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A senior official stated the attack made him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
