'Treat game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the court.

She said his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he operated.

Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were settling down and request they to consume candy "rapidly".

She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.

Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his stepson had concerns about the activities, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The prosecutor said objects including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member alerted the law enforcement about his worries.

She said Ruben proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she continued.

The police watchdog, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the events.

The legal representative said the minors were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the family member notified the law enforcement again.

She stated the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
